Do you have a play area or communal space where the cats are allowed to roam?

Cats are most comfortable in a space that they have made their own, and as they are not social creatures by nature, once relocated they can feel threatened. To allow for a full range of motion, our cabins are approximately six (6) times larger than the industry standard, and are set over two levels. Please read the statement below in relation to communal boarding and free roaming.

Can I come and have a look at the cattery before making a booking?

Of course! We love visitors, and it's important that you make an informed decision. To keep things running smoothly, inspections are by appointment and are conducted 10am - 12pm and then 2pm - 4pm daily.

Can I bring my own food?

Yes you can. If your cat is on a prescription diet, or you wish to keep their diet identical to that at home, then by all means. This obviously extends to their favourite treats as well!

Do you have a vet on call?

We do. We have access to locally-based locum services as well as an excellent relationship with nearby vet clinics. We also use the Lort Smith Animal Hospital which operates out of North Melbourne (just a stone's throw away), and operates 365 days a year.

Will my cat receive regular attention?

Loads! We’re a small capacity cattery, so all cats in our care receive daily attention. Sitting cross-legged on the floor is a favourite past-time of all staff, so expect to hear all about the love-fest when kitty returns home.

Is the cattery climate-controlled?

It sure is. We have evaporative cooling for the summer months, and heaters (including microwaveable heatpads) for winter. Our cabins,
cat beds, and hidey-holes are also positioned above floor level to ensure maximum comfort.

Can I choose where my cat goes?

Cattery staff are responsible for choosing suite positioning. Large breed cats, those that exhibit shyness or are less mobile, and cats boarding for an extended period will be taken into consideration, and may be offered other options.

At Cat Camp we pride ourselves on the highest of standards, and we regularly consult with veterinary professionals to ensure that we are up-to-date with current boarding practices. For this reason we do not provide the following:

Communal Areas

Communal areas are employed in some catteries. These highly stressful environments expose your cat to communicable disease, potential physical trauma, and to the possibility of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) infection. Allowing multiple cats to roam freely, or to place unfamiliar cats in a contained space is considered a dangerous practice within the animal care community.

Floor Carpet and Soft Furnishings

Cats, like humans, can easily transfer airborne viruses to one another, and these viruses can live for days on furnishings like scratching posts, pet igloos, and carpets. For this reason Cat Camp only uses bedding and furnishings that can be laundered/disinfected with a veterinary-grade cleaner.
